Samuel joined the EcoFun research team in November 2014 as a post- doctoral fellow within the ERC project SOLCA. Sam is a biogeochemist interested in the ecology and environmental drivers of soil-atmosphere gas exchange. His PhD at the University of Edinburgh focussed on methane cycling in tropical Andean and Amazonian soils along a transect spanning 3300m of elevation in south-eastern Peru. As part of his postdoc here, he will be working on the spatial variability of carbonic anhydrase activity in soils using a portable system to measure soil-atmosphere CO18O fluxes accross a range of biomes.
